Certificate of
Professional Competence (CPC)
in Road Transport 

There is a Statutory obligation on persons or undertakings who are engaged in the carriage of goods, in vehicles over 3,500 Kilograms or passenger vehicles in excess of 8 adult passengers, for the carriage for hire and reward, to hold a operator's licence.

To obtain an operator's licence from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport the applicant is required to designate a person who holds a Certificate of Professional Competence to act as the transport manager. (Management CPC)

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Ireland (C. I. L. T) is the examining body assigned to administer the course and the examination on behalf of the Department . The Training Executive at the Institute is Mr. Mark Coffey.
